Re: UGV-II angekündigt
Hi,
I'm sorry... What you means blue screen? Is it screen on your TV/monitor when you have no signal? Check clock on FOUT/74HCT175 pin 9 - shall be ~7MHz or 14MHz - depend on ICS501 S1&S0 configuration. Have you oscilloscope? Check signal on 1 pin of FMS6400 - it's VIDEO with SYNC.
I know that it's not easy to check signals because all pins are covered by GTIA - sometimes you need to use additional wires but you have all data do investigate what is going on.
Please don't tell that it's not working.. I made 20 pieces and had trouble with 2 first pieces - because of lack of connection on pin or two not soldered.
I told - it's not easy to assembly it according to size and need little more experience...
I may help if any issue appeared but can't help if you talking only: "it doesn't work". Need more data. I'm available directly on Signal if you want to get help.
BR,
pancio
P.s.
I've five pieces made last week - may send bundle or individually if any one want but I hope you will find an issue.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
Don't worry, I won't give up that easily. I just didn't have time today. Tomorrow I'll check everything again and measure all the test points you mentioned. I have an oscilloscope and I also have practice in troubleshooting.
And if I don't find a fault, I still have 4 PCBs and enough components to try again.
I am sure that your circuit will work.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
Just tell me if you want to have one piece as reference - I'll sent it immediately :-)
During assembly I've one accident with 47u capacitor: after 2 minutes under load it has short circuit on power - probably was degraded during soldering process. I can imagine it's probably possible frequently.
I know - you have good experience and knowledge with electronics but this is a problem of first piece - I've the same - spend 3 hours looking for issue.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
It seems that I have a different revision of the board. It is also version 2.6 but on your photo I can't see the capacitor C8 22p. In the schematic you write the component is optional. But should it be assembled or not?
Since I have not yet programmed a CH32V003, I wanted to start without this component to be on the safe side and do without VGate. I had already asked and that shouldn't be the problem.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
As you have already said, it is very difficult to measure a piggyback circuit board. I soldered a test board for the UGV so that the GTIA is next to the piggyback board. I have to check whether this also works with your board. My test adapter looks a bit wild, but it works. Maybe someone who is good with KiCAD could provide such a board as a Gerber.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
I'll do it when find a while :-)
Normally, I soldered thin wires directly to pads and connect to oscilloscope's probes. But it's good idea to have dev-board like you shown for futures projects and modifications :-)

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
It's not necessary in most situation. I described it in detail on my website. You need to use 22p if you see "floating pixels".Olix hat geschrieben: ↑09.03.2025 08:20It seems that I have a different revision of the board. Yes, CH32V003 is only for VGATE feature:

That could be the problem:
I have only leave out U3 but installed U5. This is then permanently set to Hi via R1. I don't think that should be the case.

It seems that the problem was that i had a bad connection on R1!
But I also desoldered U5 to be on the safe side and voilà:
Clear and sharp picture on SVideo an Composite.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
The problem is that the distance between the solder pads for 805 is too small when soldering by hand with a soldering iron. However, you have already written that 603 is easier.
I mounted the rest of the resistors with a hot plate and solder paste. There were no more problems.

My next steps:
Take a closer look at the image with various test programs.
When I'm satisfied with the quality, I'll have to install the software to program the little microprocessor. I've never done that before, so I might need some help, we'll see.
Once I have programmed the processor I can then test the VGate function.

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
I know that you recommended the CH32FUN software for programming the CH32V003. But I don't want to program anything myself, I just want to flash the chip. So I thought that I could simply use the original WCH-Link utility?
I have installed everything and can access the LinkE programmer and also read out the CH32V003. I can also read the firmware “UGV7Mhz.bin”. But there are a lot of parameters to set. Can you help me here?
If it is easyer for you, we can also comminicate via Signal.

@BöserWatz, Tolot, Wosch:
Also etwas Geduld. Ich melde mich dann.

When you will do 20 pieces... you will came The Master of Soldering - it takes about 30 mins :-)
As I promised... special Piggy Board for UGV2 / GTIA testing (not only):

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
Super. That's definitely better than my solution.
But I have one more suggestion:
Can you please make the holes in the base bigger? Then you can plug the IC socket directly through it, as with the UGV. (Of course only if the PCB is thin enough)

Re: UGV-II angekündigt
Thank you!
Great idea with the ZIF40 socket.
I will definitely order the test boards as soon as you have released the Gerber for the 2.9(.1).
