Wie wäre es, wenn ein Front-End für a8.fandal.cz oder homesoft erstellt wird, das durchsucht werden kann?

Hi,

while I think it is a great idea to have access to an extensive collection ...

- the files on Fandal's site are provided in ZIP archives and hence cannot be started on the fly
- and even if that worked it might be desirable to ask for Fandal's permission, I guess he doesn't want to get sued for some original soft he might have collected there

I suppose either:

(a) making a front-end to a8.fandal.cz, or
(b) unpacking the zip elsewhere and making a searchable front-end to it

is a step too far?

maybe Fandal would be willing to add a TNFS service to his site?

However there will still be zipped files.

And there is an advantage of the files being zipped: a damaged archive states an error when trying to be unpacked but data corruption in plain files will pass undetected and a single flipped bit may make a game unwinnable.

I know that such damage occurs rarely but it does occur.

This is why some companies like Veeam and HPE provide MD5 checksums for their files on their websites that enable the recipient to verify the file integrity after download.

I had Google try translate it but the meaning is still not clear.

Are you disappointed that I pointed-out that Fandal's archive consists of zipped files so that they are not directly loadable ?

No. I am proposing to get a small group together to work on a nice front-end program to load games from Homesoft's and Fandal's archives.

Luckily, in both cases, whole ZIP archives are provided and these can be unpacked and used on a server, with a suitable service which can search through them and return paths back to the FujiNet to load.

It's exceptionally frustrating sometimes, it's like I have to present an idea fully baked, in every single case, and I can't write everything.

Atari 8-bit FujiNet Homesoft Launcher beginnt zu funktionieren.

Er spricht mit einem in C geschriebenen Mikrodienst, sendet ihm die Abfrage und erhält einen Dump des Bildschirmspeichers mit den Ergebnissen zurück, der einfach direkt in den Bildschirmspeicher geladen wird.

Ich versuche wirklich, genug zum Laufen zu bringen, damit ich den #@$()@($-Punkt beweisen kann

Atari 8-bit FujiNet Homesoft Launcher starting to work.

It talks to a micro-service written in C, sends it the query, and gets back a dump of screen memory with the results, which just gets bulk-loaded right into screen memory.

I'm really trying to get enough working so I can prove the #@$()@($ point
