SIO2USB timing problems with BlackBox and US Doubler routine

SIO2USB timing problems with BlackBox and US Doubler routine

Hi.

Did anyone yet test Sio2USB with the BlackBox?

I'm having serious timing problems with SIO2USB on HighSpeed.

I have the feeling it does not understand the US DOUBLER commands 100% right. I have related issues with SpartaDos 3.3b

With SpartaDOS 3.3a and QMEG there are no highspeed SIO timing problems with Sio2USB.

With BlackBox and Sio2IDE, SIO2SD and APE there are no timing issues on the highspeed SIO. Only with Sio2USB.

I hope someone could confirm the same test results.

I made 4 movies in which you can hear the timing issue with BlackBox. It is booting a simple DOS 2.5 ATR. With Sio2USB you hear the data flow is not steady. It goes like

Trrrr prt prt Trrrrrrrrr prt prt Trrrrrrrr prt Trrrrrrr prt prt....

It should go like:
Trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Those "prt prt" timing trouble is not caused by a Flash-load-into-memory lag, because with Qmeg and SIO2USB this problem does not exist.

Please check my page (http://www.inspiration-soft.com) on the Sio2USB section for more info, and the movies.

Thanks
Marius

Well,
I am no expert here (so you should better ask someone else, like Stefan Dorndorf or theSIO2USB team), but afaik ultraspeed or us-commands are not always the same for every drive that is capable of ultraspeed...

Sounds stupid, but there are many ultraspeed drives (or enhancements) out there, like the Speedy, the Happy, the US doubler and many others... and afaik ultraspeed is not always performed in the exact same way on these enhancements... Stefan Dorndorf once explained the special speeder commands in his Hyper-XF-OS manual. There you could read all special commands for Happy, Speedy, USD, Turbo 1050, XF551 and Hyper-XF...

Maybe the SIO2USB currently only supports the Speedy ultraspeed commands (or Happy + Speedy ultraspeed) - but no USD ultraspeed... just some stupid thought...

Hi Marius,

please write your problem to the SIO2USB Hardware constructer.
They are not often in this forum.

That's exactly the reason why I want a supportforum (see my other topic about Sio2USB). I want an open-communication about these subjects, and not a 1 to 1 discussion with in 'secret' emails.

I emailed several times with them, and they seem or to busy, or not wanting to do lot with my info/questions. So I'm searching my fortune and answers here and on other forums. I hope, when I find more users of Sio2USB, we can combine our test-results, and give a clear support-request to the inventors.

Sio2USB is a great idea, but I think the users (especially heavy users) have interesting test-results for the inventors of SIO2USB. Sio2USB has a high score on user-interface and design. But a low score on compatibility, flexibility. I'm working on a nice test-report in which I compare:

Sio2IDE, Sio2SD, Sio2USB, APE and a HAPPY 1050 with each other.

Stay tuned for that.

Thanks
Marius

Hi Marius,

I think it will be come. The trouble is everybody have a full time job and not enough time to answer all the questions. After work they create new SIO2USB interfaces for the next order.
If all the people get her SIO2USB then they have time for the questions.

Sorry for my english,
Bernd
