new Sio2USB tool
von Marius » Mi 1. Dez 2010, 18:14Hi!
Today I finished the first beta version of a tiny Sio2USB tool.
I created this tool, because I'm very happy with my 16MB partition loaded with games and demo's. Ofcourse: all these games and demo's are binary files.
As soon as I wanted to play a diskbased game, or watch a diskbased demo I had to start programs like YASH, or I had to use those tiny buttons on the interface.
I thought: this should be a lot cooler!
So that's where my tools comes in. My tool let you setup a configuration of the three D: slots on sio2usb, and save that config in a tiny binary file.
So you can put "diskbased" games virtually in your 16MB boot partition.
So I have created a "Joyride.com" and a "Sumgames.com" and a "eckn.com" ...
these com files put the desired .ATR file on the right Dx: slot and reboots the atari. HighSpeed sio is disabled when you use Qmeg, to increase compatibility with bootdisks.
On D3: I always put my "reset.atr" ... when I boot with Qmeg D3: the 16MB boots partition gets back on D1: and the whole fun starts again.
I like to control anything from my atari, and with this tool you can have it all that way.
My 16MB boot partition is getting nicer and nicer. Filled with games binary files, games disk files (accesable with my tool), demo binary files, demo disk files, tools-disks etc.
I hope you like the tool. It is still BETA. Please leave comments. Thanks!
Marius
