Years ago I bought a used Klaus Peters ROMDisk. Tried it once back then, didn't work, put it away.

When sorting out stuff I came across an 800XL which seems to have a "ROMDisk O.S." Time to give the ROMDisk a 2nd chance but all I have is the PCB with a few 512Kbit EPROMs and 2 PIA's. Next to the PIA's is an empty socket. With the ROMDisk connected the 800XL (with 5V power to pin#47 on PBI) comes up with a red screen which usually indicates an O.S. problem. I suppose the ROMDisk is a true PBI device and that the empty socket needs a 2KB O.S. extension, which I don't seem to have.

Searched the forum but the info I found is old and all links are invalid due to forum upgrades.

So the questions are:

-Is there any online info about the ROMDisk? (I only have the German installation manual)
-Is there a user manual available?
-What software do I need and where to get it?
-Is there a way to access the ROMDisk with the standard Atari O.S. ?
-If it needs an on-board O.S, is the code available somewhere so I can burn an EPROM? And where?

Any info is welcome.

I can send you the code to burn the ROM-DISK-OS into an eprom by yourself. IIRC you have to do a little modify to your computer; put 5V to the PBI and add a switch to change between ROM-DISK-OS and build in OS. I can also send you a scan of the installation guide how to install the switch.
To create an eprom you need a software which turns the ATARI-disk into a burnfile. The Rom-Disk comes away with a corresponding software; I still have the disk and can make you an atr. I used the eprom Burner by Klaus Peters to burn the eproms.

This 800XL already has the RD O.S. stacked onto the stock O.S, switchable and it seems to work. With RESET-SELECT I'm able to push 1->8 and hear something is going on, probably an attempt to boot something. Also provided 5V to the PBI. Apart from that it also has an extra PIA, probably for a printer port but this may be unrelated.

I found an online version of the installation manual but I wonder if there is also a user manual available somewhere?

I also have the Klaus Peters burner but I usually use the CSS "Super-E Gang" burner. Software and O.S. code would be welcome. As it is now I can't do anything with it

I more or less need the software to use it I guess so I hope you can/want to ATR/DCM the disks
