when did you check my web-site ?
I replaced the download links with links to atarimuseum some time ago... ;-)

So please tell me concrete which links are still wrong so I can change them...

Hi mr. Bacardi,

Apologies, I did not check everything, only the Operation Blood lightgun version. And that is the only which is still there:

on the following page: http://idiology.com/8b/bacardi/Mirage/mirage1_92.html the download to the lightgun version of Operation Blood is still active. It refers to: http://*%$^&&y.com/8b/bacardi/Mirage/blood_lg.zip (I replaced some characters).

Thank you for removing almost all copyrighted files!

Greetings,
Fred

:?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?::?:

Are we talking about the same John Maris that, way back when Pokey Magazin was just founded, was convinced that three years was more than enough time for software developers to earn money on their products. And the same John Maris that therefore proclaimed that all software over three years old could and indead should be freely distributed? Do we, really?

Greetings,

Mathy (who's starting to belief just now, that the world might be flat after all)

Mathy,

You know absolutely who the people behind these posts are. I do not think it is very nice to post such a negative message.

John did very much for the Atari 8-bit scene in Holland and Europe. All Mirage titles are PD now without the ANG original titles, so only 10% of the titles which he owns copyright are not PD yet.

I think you can show more gratitude for what he has done.

Greetings,
Fred

Howdy Fred

I know he did a lot for Atari. But I also know that John sometimes has very strong ideas about some things. One of these strong ideas was that all software that had been on the market for over 3 years could and should freely be distributed. But now, John is on the other end of the stick. And his ideas seem to have changed when his interests changed.

I don't wanna undermine his position in the Atari world, he really did do a lot for us. But I do think it is strange to all of a sudden change this much. It's as if the pope would allow sex before marriage, abortion, euthanasia, give out condoms and accept homosexuality.

Sincerely,

Mathy

Hi Mathy,

I know John for about fifteen years and I can not remember he said anything about software should be pd after three years....

But to end this, you should know that he is still active and is helping Sijmen, Sandra and me to organise the retro computer dag in Holland (I hope you will come).

Because I like the atari hobby and do not like meetings for playing games only, I want to have some space to sell double items (just as at the JHV) John is allowing me to sell his products. For what is left of it, because (as you know) we have given all stock away to ABBUC about ten years ago. Most of the software/hardware ABBUC sells is originally from ANG. Two years ago we have also given away about 100 SIO cables to ABBUC, which were sold by ABBUC for about 7 euros each.....

So I think John (and I) are ALLOWED to sell some old products to finance the costs of travelling to the JHV.

When I ask Mr. Bacardi to remove his link to the illegal version of Operation Blood, you should be pointing at me, because I am selling old stock of this title. I have also a lot of old stock of the Mirage titles, which are now PD..... (John's choice, not mine) I have never said that software should be freely distributed after 3 years. I think every publisher should make its own decision.

So again, I do NOT like the tone of your public messages. Maybe you have got money enough to travel anywhere for your hobby. We do not....

Greetings,
Fred

This is my opinion and my last message about this topic.

Howdy John, Fred, folks

If my message came out a bit strong, I do apologise for that.

But that doesn't mean that we do have different opinions on this. We had a discussion about this very same issue years ago. We didn't agree then and as far as I can see, we are not gonna agree on this now. So I propose that we stop this discussion for the time being and that, should any one of us feel the need to do so, talk about this if/when we meet in public.

To bring it up again and continue ...

Dear ATARIans,

From Mirage Soft I did not receive an answer to my e-mail concerning the titles having been available from their website.

Nevertheless, because of help of ANG Software from The Netherlands most of the title are applicable for the PD-library.

With the coming magazines they will be put into ABBUC PD Library.

Exceptions are:

Whoops (Original ANG Title)
Whoops II
T34 (Only Published by ANG)
Operation Blood for Lightgun (Original ANG Version)

These fine titles are still available at ANG as low budget disks.
