Hello,

On the JHV 2014 was a discussion about hardware and what is currently allowed or not allowed anymore due to regulations.
Is there a forum post of this topic I can read for the details. Or can someone point me to a forum post where this is discussed or explained in details.

Kind regards,
TXG/MNX

Couldn't attend the annual general meeting (agm) for private reasons, so I do not know what has been said there. The topic itself is an oldone and was discussed on the AGM 2013 as well. It is about legal issues and is partly found in a thread:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7595&start=60#p61111
where abbuc members discussed a few aspects.

Generally, it is no problem to develop and provide new hardware, software, whatever. But - if you do it openly on the web using a shop and sell it, all legal framework will apply, starting with business registration and taxes. If your web appearance for that purpose looks like a commercial business, it will be handled like this by the authorities. The one doing so while ignoring the rules and regulations might run into problems.

As long as it works like a DIY project facilitated by e.g. ABBUC, this is no problem at all.

So you are not a member of ABBUC !?

Anyway, this topic has been discussed to death already ...

As said, if you are running a homepage with a shop, you need to obey the rules and regulations of your home country and the "EU add-ons", if applicable. That's what most of the contributors are not willing to realize.

Developing hardware, software or "anyware" is a no frills issue, as long as it is done as a DIY project. When somebody starts to gain revenues from it, all the legal framework applies.

this is purely nonsense and simply wrong! "Revenues" are not a criteria. Bringing hardware into circulation/market (cmp. legal term), either by selling it -non regarding making profit or not- or just giving it out for free (!) obliges one to be compliant to all regulations and laws that apply.
no exit, no excuse, no shortcut. nothing we can do about it.

Thanks for reminding me being a fool.

Having read all the rules and regulations, which apply at least here in Germany, and having talked and written about it to others caused a lot of "expert's feedback" in e-mails and conversations. The quality and ignorance of this feedback stream caused me to resign from the ABBUC leader board, for simple self-protection.

And here again it is proofed to be the right decision. Thank you.

If you dish it out, you have to be able to take it...
