Some clarification about AspeQt
von a8w » Di 15. Mär 2016, 22:21The rumor mill is running in Atariage as usual, and unfortunately i have no means of answering some of the questions people may ask over there. I know some of you (perhaps many of you) also visit Atariage, so I thought some clarification is in order. One of the questions is, whether AspeQt is moving towards an APE/Prosystem type of distribution model. The answer is "absolutely not". AspeQt will always be free to everyone to use, I am not commercializing it and I make it available to everyone who cares to use it. It is my hobby to develop it, and i love that software, without doubt it is one piece of software that i use every day.
That said, some individuals would like to take over the project and simply eliminate me from the equation. That's why they created a fork. What they achieved however is little more than stripping references to my name, website and SIO2PC products. They criticized me for advertising my hardware through the software, but what they added to the fork is nothing more than support for a "Mac address locked" bluetooth device somebody else sells. The rest is the same, actually less than what AspeQt v1.01 can offer. And there is no development timeline from the new undertaker, as he himself admits that "he has no time to devote to the fork". So why take it over then? why pretend that you could do better? All boils down to personal grudges of a few who dominate Atariage. They will never stop criticizing, that's all they do, you don't see a single word about the new features of AspeQt, like write support for the folder images, all they discuss is petty small changes like dropping support for drive 15. And all they do is to try to erect more roadblocks so that i can not distribute the binaries to people who like to use it, but they will never succeed as long as there are people who appreciate the work i do.
Thank you all for listening... development will continue.....
Cheers
