Hi,
Is possible to have XDOS installed on cartridge? I need to XDOS as alternative to SDX on MIDIcar device and other hardware staff (because of speed, flexibility, monitor included, etc.)
BR,
pancio

Hmmm,
should be possible, since one can put XEX on cart. and XDOS is available as COM/XEX... but, I never tried to put it onto a cart. (Try 128k or 256k SIC! cart, Atarimax 1MBit/128K cart, etc. ) Or simply ask in the AA forum if someone already converted XDOS into a 8k/16k/32k/64k/128k/etc. CAR file...

I tried to convert ATR to CAR using @gienekp software called atr2car which is using to converts full disc games to MAXFLASH format cartridge. It doesn't work with XDOS (despite jump translation option used).
If anyone is interesting how it works:

Could you please share XEX/COM file for tests.. or it is the same as on ATR image?

Hello pancio
XDOS was written by Stefan Dorndorf, who sometimes visits this forum under the name Dietrich. Which is also the name he uses on AtariAge. He can probably tell you what to do to get XDOS running from cart.

Yes,
the XDOS diskette (or ATR-image) does contain two .COM files: XDOS2xN.COM and XDOS2xF.COM.
(Where XDOS V2.43 contains XDOS24N.COM and XDOS24F.COM, while XDOS V2.51 contains XDOS25N.COM and XDOS25F.COM; n is the normal/slow version, f is the fast version.)
Maybe (maybe!) the COM versions can be successfuly converted into a cartridge. If not, ask the professionals how they do it... (and not an amateur like me).
