I haven't tried my board with the ROM's installed yet. Will try that later.

I'm not sure how we can have the exact same rev of board (v6.0_B) yet they are different boards!

Pulling the schematic (see attached extract) the pin joint between U2 and U1 doesn't seem to align with the schematic?

Interesting when I went to look at cutting the tracks tonight my board looks a little different to your even though we are both rev 6? It might be easier that I just lift the legs of the IC U2 and solder wires directly to the legs of U1 yes? That means lifting legs U2-3,4,5,6,7 and 8 right? U2-3 -> ...
