Ich habe NoSTalgia aus einem einfachen Grund geschrieben: Ich wollte Elite weiterhin auf meinem Mac spielen können .

Die erste Version erschien am 28. August 1997. Damals lief sie auf 68k- und PowerPC-Macs. Im Laufe der Jahre entwickelte sich NoSTalgia weiter – über Carbon, Cocoa, Intel und schließlich Apple Silicon.

Fast 30 Jahre später ist die Motivation dieselbe geblieben. Diese Version 2.0 ist eine komplett neue Entwicklung, von Grund auf für moderne Macs programmiert, aber sie trägt denselben Geist in sich: eine Liebeserklärung an den Atari ST und die Spiele, die eine Ära prägten.

# NoSTalgia - Atari ST Emulator for Apple Macintosh

## What is it?

NoSTalgia is an Atari ST emulator for Macintosh. You can use it to run your Atari ST software on your Mac.

## How to use it?

The emulator needs a copy of the Atari ST ROM to function.

TOS 1.x and 2.x can be used with this release of the emulator. TOS 1.4 is recommended for running games. Original Atari ST floppy disks cannot be read directly by the Macintosh. Use .ST or .MSA disk images.

### Hard Disk Emulation

NoSTalgia uses a built-in driver for Hard Disk emulation and VDI resolution (640x400x16).

The emulator will boot on the hard drive (C:) if no disk image is inserted in drive A:. The hard disk requires TOS 1.4 or better.

To set up a hard disk:
1. Create the hard disk image using the built-in menus
2. Mount it and relaunch the emulator
3. Activate the hard disk and install the disk icon in the GEM Desktop
4. Don't forget to save the Atari Desktop

### ACSI Hard Disk

ACSI hard disk images are supported. Use AHDI 5.0 to install the driver on the disk image.

### Input

There is only one joystick for now, configurable in the preferences.

The right button of the ST mouse is emulated by Cmd-clicking and the Help key by F12.

### Debugger

The built-in debugger has the following options:
- Breakpoints
- Step/Step Over execution
- Trace
- Hardware monitoring
- System vectors monitoring

## Not Emulated

- Serial port
