Re: Invitation to the launch of the MIDICar Player
Hi Guys,
I know that the computer is so good as his software... the same is for MIDIcar - the MIDIcar is so usable as PeBe's MCPlayer is
I proud of him, it's very good job. Now MIDI is available for ATARI8 easier than for ST

Re: Invitation to the launch of the MIDICar Player
The programme is currently in version 1.5.5b. It works well with the SDX system, which makes it very easy to use and allows IDE devices to be used without problems.
The programme is currently already supports three devices:
- MIDICar
- MIDIMate
- MIDIBox
Each of these devices is supported by a separate driver, which in the case of SDX is passed via the command line as a switch. For other DOS, you need to load such a driver beforehand, then run the main program. Alternatively, you can prepare yourself a "bundle" version with the driver for a particular device sewn in. To do this, combine two files: the driver and the main program. It is important that the driver comes first!
Specifying the driver in the switch, can be somewhat misleading, so it is important that the switch is ALWAYS in the form `/D[n]:[path]driver.ext`.
The program loader does not search the PATH environment variable. If you plan to keep the drivers elsewhere, you will need to specify the full path in the driver switch, or `bundle' the driver with the program.
The program does not support single letter drive designations! Hence access to drives is via `D1:` to `DO:`.
I encourage you to read the instructions attached in the text file.
Additional information: I plan to further develop the program and as of version 2.0 will drop support for systems other than SDX!
Feel free to follow the development on GitHub https://github.com/GSoftwareDevelopment/MIDICar-Player.
I think that's all. Enjoy listening to the MIDs

Re: Invitation to the launch of the MIDICar Player
Well,
there is no need to develop for dozens of DOS versions, but SpartaDOS (or even SDX) only is not nice! If the program requires big disks/images (up to 16MB) and/or subdirectories, you could at least support MyDOS. If you want command-line DOSs only, there are a few DOS 2 versions available, including DOS II+D, X-DOS, Turbo-DOS XL/XE and others.
Other than that, great work so far! And thanks a lot for continueing A8 development with updates and upgrades.

Calm down @PeBe
There are still people living in the 20th century Don't be cruel to them! I also like DOS II+ - it's very fast and useful for most tasks - especially when I need to test some hardware

Blazej/pancio
