Auf AtariAge hat der User OldAtarian1 angedeutet, dass Atari gegen die Veröffentlichung des RM 800XL gerichtlich vorgeht. Ob da erwas dran ist, wurde noch nicht bestätigt. Falls aber ja wäre das eine Schande und Atari nicht zu verzeihen (Meine Meinung)

Der Typ hat genau einen Post und damit brutal viel Reputation.

Ich vermute, dass er die schwachsinnige Abmahnung von RGL von vor einem Jahr (?) gegen das Desing meint.
Die ist einfach Null und nichtig weil es kein schützbares Desing für den XL mehr gibt; und seither ist auch ganz schön vile Elektronik und Video das Facebook heruntergelaufen.

Das ist noch nicht end Produkt, deshalb ist die Farbe des unteren Teils das, was verfügbar war.

Na, ich denke mal daß das richtige Gehäuse wieder weiß / cremfarben wird, wie das Original. Und, überhaupt, wann sieht so ein Rechne jemals echtes, ungefiltertes Sonnenlicht? Das habe ich in den 40 Jahren, die ich mich mit dem Rechner beschäftige, noch nie gegesehen...

Außer vielleicht zum bleechen...

Wie viel Speicher? Mehrere OS speicher- und schaltbar? XEX-Dateien direkt von SD startbar?
Ich stelle mir so ungefähr das vor, was der atari800 Emulator kann. Bis jetzt habe ich auch kaum inkompatibles gefunden.

Wäre ich der Entwickler dieses Systems, würde ich dafür sorgen, dass debian drauf läuft und sonst kaum Zeit in die Entwicklung von Software investieren. Retropi oder Recalbox liefern auch gute Ergebnisse, fokusieren sich aber nicht direkt auf den Atari 8 bitter, dessen Gehäuse wohl sehr inspirierend war.
Einzig eine ordentlich vorkonfigurierte Version von Atari800 würde ich vorbereiten, so dass nach dem Einschalten ein grundsolider Atari 800XL vor mir steht und alle Peripherie auf anhieb funktioniert.

Vielleicht noch Kodi drauf, aber keine eigene Distro mit angepasster Oberfläche oder sowas.

So eine Steam-ähnliche Oberfläche schreckt mich momentan irgendwie ab und riecht nach unabdingbarer online-Konnektivität, um voll ausgekostet zu werden.

Hätte erwartet das es sich um einen echten Atari handelt, nur eben im FPGA und ein paar Features wie USB,
aber nicht, das es quasi ein Emulator wird.
Wenn doch, datt wird nix..

Ich hatte auch gedacht es wäre eine FPGA-Implementation so ähnlich wie Eclaire XL, mit funktionsfähigem Modulschacht, Parallelport, SIO etc. Die Videos sehen eher aus wie ein Raspberry Pi+Emu im XL-Gehäuse.

Naja wenn man so aufwändig einen neuen Computer entwirft, dann wird es nicht mehr nur ein Ein-Computer-System werden und somit war es klar, dass dort mehr kommt als ein FPGA-basierter Atari. Ein korrekt konfigurierter atari800-Emulator oder gar Altirra unter WINE mit authentischer Anbindung an die physischen Ports, die soweit ich mich erinnere als funktionell angekündigt waren, wäre doch ebenfalls eine klasse Lösung.

Das Gehäuse und alles drumherum werden sicher sehr teuer – und das nur, um einen Softwareemulator zu nutzen? Ich weiß nicht...

There are two processors: one is an SoC based on the RISC architecture, and the other is an FPGA. The first one runs devices that didn’t exist in 1983, while the FPGA contains all the devices and the core from 1983. Thanks to this division, we achieved 100% compatibility.

Vielleicht kann man ja auch nur das Gehäuse erwerben ? Am Besten eines das nur die original "Löcher" des 800XL besitzt, aber halt niegelnagelneu ist... ? (Kostet vermutlich aber ein Vermögen.)

Das wäre super. So ein komplett unvergilbtes Gehäuse ohne Bohrlöcher mit einer nagelneuen Tastatur, das wär's.

Auch wenn mein 800XL noch sehr hell ist.

Because of this, when you start typing, the system doesn’t "search" for the game on the disk (which would take ages). It already knows where it is. Results appear on screen in real-time, faster than you can think of the next letter. This is "Instant-Search" technology brought to the retro world.

2. Why You Will Love This System
Zero Waiting: Whether you have 50 games or 50,000. You type the letter "M", and the list instantly shows everything starting with "M".

Smart Interface: The search bar communicates with you using colors.

Yellow Icon: Loose search (e.g., typing "Star" will also find "Polstar").

Green Icon: Precise search (only what starts with the typed phrase).

Counter: You always know where you stand (e.g., "Found: 12 games").

4. Filters: Your Collection, Your Rules
Retro-gaming often involves messy files. RM 800XL helps organize this without deleting anything:

Format Master (Ctrl+X): Not interested in disk images (.ATR) because you prefer fast executable files (.XEX)? With one click in the filter window, you can hide entire file formats. The list becomes cleaner and more transparent.

Hits Only (Ctrl+F): With one shortcut, you hide thousands of average games and leave only those marked as Favorites on the screen. Best of all—the search engine then works inside this favorites list!

5. "Conscious" Favorites
This is one of the most unique features of RM 800XL. The system can distinguish where a game comes from.

Absolute Memory: If you plug in a friend's USB drive and add a game from it to favorites, RM 800XL remembers that specific drive (by its unique UUID code).

No Conflicts: When you plug in your own USB drive, the system automatically switches to your favorites list. Nothing gets mixed up. Your favorites virtually "travel" with the storage device.

You are playing.

You open Options – they appear over the game.

Je mehr ich von dem Ding "sehe" umso weniger will ich es haben.

Also alleine dieses Video. Man sieht quasi nix von dem Computer und auf der Tastatur sind 3D-gedruckte Tasten. LOL. Ich glaube, das Ganze kann man später mal in einem Seminar für vollkommen misslungenes Marketing bewundern.

Ich teile Deine Meinung.

Da könnte man auch nen MiniPC oder PI nehmen, ins 800XL Gehäuse verpflanzen... und 800€ verlangen...

Ich würde mich freuen wenn das Projekt live geht, allerdings ist die Kassettenfuntion so wirklich das Letzte an was ich gedacht hätte.
Im Gegensatz dazu geht mir das ganze Atari Zeug aus der letzten Zeit "am A.... vorbei".
